RE: Rodent repellant

Don't like the odor of peppermint, we use Fresh Cab pouches once a year and since then have not had any mouse **** Only had a mouse issue once... I was keeping my RV at a friends house and the neighbors knocked down the house next door and cleared the lot... I found evidence of mice in the coach afterwards. I got a few bags of fresh cab and I never saw any other evidence of them being there.

RE: Microwave failure after just 2 years...why?

Low voltage may have caused overheating of the magnetron thermal fuse which could cause the symptoms you observed. Take the unit out and open it up and check the fuse. Replace if it's bad and bench test. If it's not the fuse, you have the unit out now, so time to replace it.

RE: Progressive RV Insurance requires you to have another car?

RE: South Florida RV park suggestions

I know I'm asking a lot. We are looking for suggestions on a RV park in South Florida for next winter. We love the keys, but its just to pricey now and hard to get into. Looking for warm weather and lots of activities. It would be great if close to some kind of fishing. We love the parks in Southern Arizona but have lots of friends throughout Florida. Thank you for all your thoughts and ideas. Maybe look around Lake Okeechobee for fishing RV parks

RE: Ok to run shore power without battery?

Why not just get a battery-- you didn't state size-- but something like a Group 24 that will run under $150 and install it. In the event of power outage, you will still have lights and if, by chance, your converter needs a battery, it will be happy too.

RE: DeadWood

Spearfish City CG looked nice when I stopped there... didn't stay as were were already at a different CG for the rally. Elkhorn Ridge has been mentioned by others-- high end resort.

RE: Installing an oven into a former rental rv

Might want to consider a countertop convection/air fryer/over combo. Then you can take it outside when weather is appropriate to avoid heat and odors in the RV. FWIW, I pretty much never cook inside. I have a grill, griddle, air fryer, slow cooker and other gadgets in one of my bays that I can setup outside.

RE: Custom plastic ice box for Dometic freezer

I would go to your local plastic supply shop and buy a piece of acrylic and cut it to the size you want and glue it together. You said you do wood work, so you should be able to make the cuts, very similar to wood. My local place will even make things for you based upon your drawings. Plastic Supply House

RE: Need advice on final leg to Acadia

From Scranton, get on 84 , follow that to Sturbridge , MA ( no tolls that way other than Newburgh-Beacon Bridge) there you will get on 90 ( toll) follow that to 495 and head north, you will then hook back up with 95 near Amesbury. We go to Acadia every summer from the Tampa area...just got back a few days ago. You will be going thru metro areas, but it's not too bad as you are on the interstate. Now, potholes are a different story.

RE: Do it yourself Oil Change on Newmar class a gas motorhome

If you plan to continue to do it yourself, I recommend that you replace the drain plug with a fumoto valve with the nipple on it for attaching a hose. That way, when you drain the oil, you don't have the mess caused by splashing on the front axle.

RE: Moving forward with flooring replacement

Regarding your furniture question, most furniture for RV's comes in pieces that you assemble after getting it inside. We had 2 sofas sitting across from each other. I removed one and replaced it with 2 theater seats. Much more comfortable watching tv now.

RE: RV Vinyl Wrap

The wrap will last 5 years or so.... suggest you have it painted with the design and colors you want and then you have a permanent solution vs a temporary

RE: New 2011 Gillig Low Floor owner looking for support

Congrats on the purchase and the projects ahead. You will get a lot of good info here, but I also suggest you look for Gillig specific sites that will be able to address the peculiarities of that particular bus Here's some to start out with Gillig conversions

RE: Maine Coastal Campground Suggestions

Moorings RV park near Belfast is ocean front. Well maintained. Short drive into Belfast or Searsport. About an hour drive to Acadia NP.

RE: Winnebago Sunova Seat Covers

If they are Flexsteel seats, Lisa Bauer makes replacement covers of the material of your choice. I had her make covers from ultraleather ( not the cheap stuff the manufacturer used) Look under you seats for tags to see if they are Flexsteel

RE: electric RV appliances

Our 2013 Newmar was offered as all electric only when we ordered and bought it new in 2013. I was concerend about not having propane after having Class A's for 20 years prior and having propane refer/furnace/bbq grill/griddle,etc. Now, 10 years later, I have no concerns. Everything has worked OK, I did have to buy an electric grill, and now I have and electric griddle, air fryer, slow cooker and other odds and ends. Refer is huge and works great. Now, we pretty much always are at a FHU site in out travels, which are typically 8-9 months a year.

RE: Florida’s Forgotten Coast?

We stayed at Old Salt RV Park last year... Mexico Beach. It's a short walk ( couple blocks) to the beach. Park was very well maintained and clean. FHU, 28 sites. I don't recall any bike paths nearby. ON that same trip, we were able to snag a site at Grayton Beach State Park. Site had 50 amp and was more than large enough for our 43' coach and toad. easy walk to beach and bike paths are nearby.
